Head of Connected Communities, Siemens


Paul is the Head of Connected Communities for Siemens Energy Management division with a remit to develop innovative local energy system solutions for the emerging decentralised, community and municipal energy markets. His team has cross portfolio responsibility for integrated service solutions, smart grid applications, energy enabled smart cities and a small consultancy business building and optimising local energy models. He originally joined Siemens in October 2013 as Head of Smart Grid Applications & Solutions for North West Europe.

Before joining Siemens Paul was Managing Director of a start up company 22nd Century Energy developing smart energy projects including technical and commercial design of a number of ground breaking community energy and smart city projects. Prior to that he was the Business Development Director for Utilities at Cable & Wireless Worldwide and also spent 10 years at ELEXON where he implemented the de-regulation of the wholesale electricity market and managed the operation of the central settlement systems.

Paul sits on the Operations Board of Smart UK (formerly SmartGrid GB) and is also a Board Member of Community Energy England.
