Energy Efficiency Automation in Social Housing

Time: 13:50 - 14:20

Date: Day 2 - 12th November 2015

Theatre: Energy Use in the Built Environment

The Registered Social Landlord (RSL) sector has been collecting and evaluating energy efficiency data over many years. This has influenced their home improvement strategies, including complying with government requirements on minimum standards such as the Decent Homes Standard and more recently the Housing Health and Safety Rating System both of which cover minimum standards of heating, cooling and thermal comfort in homes.

Property Tectonics has provided RSL’s with asset management software, including energy efficiency assessment data and analysis tools for almost 30 years and is now moving into collecting ‘live’ data on electricity, gas and water using cost effective sensors and devices manufactured by Cloogy. This is will potentially revolutionise energy management in the RSL sector. It is also moving Property Tectonics’ asset management software marketed under the Lifespan brand, into digital technologies which will embrace new concepts such as ‘Big Data’ and ‘Internet of Things’ to create a futuristic ‘Intelligent Homes’ concept.

It is envisaged that the data provided by these devices and the opportunity they create to better understand tenant and occupant behaviour and provide enhanced energy management opportunities etc. especially for vulnerable people and those in fuel poverty may mean that these devices are installed as standard in the future.
